Fiesta De Mayo Weekend At Tubac Golf Resort

Save the date...the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz County is presenting their annual “Fiesta de Mayo” on the weekend of May 4-6.  

The weekend kicks off on May 4th with a glamorous fundraising event that features a gourmet dinner and silent auction beginning at 5 p.m. to midnight at the picturesque Tubac Golf Resort.  The Crystal Stark Quintet will be providing roof-shattering entertainment. 

Get your tickets today--$75 per person.

Festivities continue on Monday May 6th with the 34th Annual Produce Carne Asada at the Tubac Golf Resort.   Great food, music and friends make this one of Santa Cruz County's most anticipated events. Tickets are $25.

Tubac AZ Annual Garden Tour

The annual Tubac, AZ self-guided garden tour is sponsored by the Tubac Center of the Arts (TCA) and features beautiful Tubac area gardens, each providing a different aspect of the "art of gardening".   


#1 - A traditional Tubac garden with a large enclosed back patio full of native plants and easy to care for landscaping.    A special treat at this stop on the tour are the garden pots painted by Artist members on the patio.  Shannon Lockwood will speak here at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. about landscaping with native plants.

#2 - Enchanting design incorporates raised garden beds and space to entertain into a profusion of color and functionality.  Lorin Jacobsen, local builder,  will be on site to answer questions and explain how to build and incorporate raised beds into your own garden.

#3 - An oasis in the desert overlooking the Anza Trail and the mesquite bosque, this is a garden where you’ll want to sit and soak in the peace and quiet.   Learn about photographing flowers/plants with Mary Ball at 10:00 a.m. and noon in this charming garden setting.


#4 - A garden of beautiful roses and various kinds of  blooming plants and the pricklier cactus varieties.  Learn about planting, feeding and fertilizing roses and other plants from Bob Warren, at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

#5 - Take a deep cleansing breath as you step into an amazingly serene garden filled with plants, water features, sculptures and an elegant outdoor room for entertaining designed by local architect Arturo Vasques of Patagonia and built by Greg Johnrow.  Pick up tips about landscape design from Rori Wailes of Terra Flora Design at 11:30am and 2pm.

Green Valley AZ March 2013 Real Estate Statistics

March, which is typically one of Green Valley, AZ's highest grossing Real Estate months,  failed to impress with sales down by 31% as compared to March 2012.    Year to date (YTD) sales are down by 28.7% as compared to the same time period in 2012.   This decline comes on the heels of the promising news that sales were up by 17.3% in 2012 as compared to 2011.

There were 80 sales in March as compared to 116 in March 2012, and YTD there have been 194 sales as compared to 272 during the same time period last year. 

The number of active listings continues to climb as well with 995 homes on the market at the end of March as compared to 898 in March 2012.  182 new listings went on the market in March as compared to 125 a year ago.  YTD the number of new listings increased by 20.4% over the same time period in 2012.

Despite these statistics, in March the average days on market (DOM) experienced a sharp decline of 36.65% as compared to last March, and are down by 32.65% YTD vs. the same time period last year.

8th Annual Quail Creek Car & Motorcycle Show April 14, 2013

Spring has sprung everywhere in Green Valley, AZ and what better way to enjoy it than viewing lovingly restored cars and motorcycles from a bygone era.  Mark your calendars for the 8th Annual Quail Creek Car & Motorcycle Show on April 14, 2013.  The backdrop to this annual favorite will be tunes spun by crowd pleasing DJ Warren B. 

Admission is free to this annual fundraiser for the Green Valley-Sahuarita Food Bank, and food donations will be collected.  The festivities begin at 9:30 with a parade of the vehicles that starts near the Fire Department on Campbell and ends at the Quail Creek Clubhouse parking lot around 10:00 a.m.  Food and drinks will be sold in the parking lot and a 50-50 raffle will be held.  

The event is being organized by Quail Creek resident, Wayne Potter, and hosted by Quail Creek.  If you wish to enter your car or motorcycle you can contact Wayne at 520-648-3393.   Entry fee is $10 and 100% of the fee will go to the Community Food Bank.
