Feng Shui Tips that May (Or May Not) Change Your Life

Feng Shui Your Green Valley AZ Home

Whether or not you believe in feng shui, the ancient Chinese philosophy that seeks to harmonize human existence, the fact is that many of the decorating guidelines inspired by feng shui simply make sense in terms of creating a tranquil and inviting home atmosphere.

HGTV feng shui consultant Suzanne Metzger suggests eight feng shui tips that may or may not improve your love life or bring you more money, but which may, at least, improve the look and feel of your living space:

To encourage romance –

Decorate in pairs – Create an image of partnership. Avoid putting a single chair in one corner, which suggests singularity. Hang pictures in pairs, and surround yourself with doubles, including such things as candlesticks and dual bookshelves.

Opt for a round dining table – Placing family and guests where everyone can see everyone else is important to building camaraderie, friendship, and even love.

Add whimsy to the bedroom – Add something whimsical, perhaps artwork, photos, or brightly printed pillows, that brings a smile to your lips – and try decorating with a splash of pink, the color associated with love, joy, happiness and romance.

Keep the kitchen clean – Feng shui proponents say keeping the stove clean and the fridge and pantry organized open pathways to love and serenity.

To attract prosperity –

Make your front door inviting – A pleasant front entry invites opportunity. The welcome mat should be bright and fresh, the door neatly painted or cleaned, and a pot of flowers or greens at or near the front door can be a welcome and lucky talisman.

Lose clutter and add plants – To encourage prosperity, create a vibrant, healthy, and clutter-free home. While clutter jams up good energy, life forces such as plants, flowers and fresh air are stimulants that inspire success.

Choose your favorite hues – Don’t decorate with the ‘in’ colors of the moment. Choosing fabrics and furniture that reflect your personal preferences can inspire friendship, sharing, and love.

Avoid water issues – Feng shui proponents believe drippy faucets are a sign of money going to waste. To attract money, repair any broken fountains, drippy faucets and the like, and avoid displaying water-based artwork above your bed.

Pool Maintenance 101

Swimming Pool In Arizona

With triple digit temperatures in the greater Green Valley, Arizona area and no relief end in sight, a cool dip sounds heavenly.  For many homeowners, there is nothing better than inviting friends over to cool off from the sun's warm rays in the comfort of their own backyard pool.

But as every pool owner knows, keeping their pool clean and maintained for everyone to enjoy can take a bit of work. Here are some ways to keep your investment in its best shape all season long.

Keep up with shrubs

If your backyard pool sits near trees and bushes, be sure to keep them trimmed throughout the season. This will help avoid additional debris from flying into your pool, which can create extra cleaning work for you. If possible, consider replacing these plants with those that create less of a mess.

Clean the surface often

Get rid of unattractive stains at the waterline with a quality surface cleaner. For best results, use the cleaner with a pool brush and rub from the top of the waterline to a few inches below the mark.

Check levels regularly

Be sure to monitor your pool's chlorine and pH levels at least twice a week. The best time to do this is in the evening and several hours after the last swimmer has left the pool. If a rain or wind storm has occurred, wait about eight hours before testing.

Reduce maintenance duties

Besides providing increased comfort to swimmers, more homeowners are choosing saltwater chlorinated pools for ease of use and reduced maintenance. If you're looking to spend less time keeping your pool maintained, consider installing a saltwater chlorination system, which eliminates the need for buying, storing and handling chemical chlorine. Saltwater chlorinated pool owners also enjoy the benefits of less irritated skin and eyes, as well as a significant cost savings verses their chemical chlorine counterparts.

Run filtration system daily

Water in constant movement is less likely to collect debris, such as dust, body oils and bacteria. Be sure to run your filtration system as much as possible throughout the summer to keep water as clean and clear as possible.

Keep equipment tidy

Pool skimmers are used to pick up yard debris, insects and other undesirable items that can fall into the water. While skimming the pool is typically needed before every swim, you should also clean the skimmers on a weekly basis, or as needed.

Come Home To Updated Mirmar In Canoa Ridge: Virtual Tour

Real Estate sales in May 2014 continue to trail behind 2013 with 93 sales as compared to 119 in May 2013, an almost 22% drop.  Year to date (YTD) there have been 456 sales as compared to 574 for the same time period last year, a 21% decrease.

The slow sales are definitely having an impact on the "absorption rate" which has to do with demand.  It is the rate at which the market absorbs the inventory of homes that are for sale--in other words how fast are homebuyers buying the homes that are available.  In May the absorption rate was 10.89 and 11.55 for YTD. According to the National Association of Realtors, a Seller's market occurs when there are less than 6 months of inventory on the market and a Buyer's market when there are more than 6 months of inventory on on the market.  In other words the greater Green Valley AZ real estate market is still very much a Buyer's market.

If you are thinking about selling your Green Valley AZ home give me a call, I'd love to hang an Another SOLD By Judi in front of YOUR house.  With more than forty-five of my listings selling in 2013--and 34 are already under contract or sold in 2014, including 2 that were on the market less than a week--I'd love to make yours the next one.  My extremely successful marketing plan WORKS...let me prove it to you.
