Green Valley AZ Community Performing Arts Center

The Community Performing Arts Center located in Green Valley, Arizona has assembled a diverse slate of performances for its 2013 Summer Series.   From a theater performance and beloved local entertainers to enthralling historical perspectives and a prom night there is definitely something for everyone in the Summer line-up. 

Saturday, April 6, 7:00 P.M:  Kicking off the Summer program is the Southern Arizona Women's Chorus (SAWC) who will performing everything from Pop to Classical.   Their repertoire is as varied as the women in the chorus. SAWC has nearly 80 members from all walks of life.

Sunday, April 7, 3:00 P.M.: Mary Lou Catania In Concert.  Mary Lou is a popular and talented local entertainer who plays piano and the flute.  She has planned an eclectic program that includes a piano duet with Dr. Fred Fox, selections by Ravel, Chopin and John Rutter along with some standard favorites. The second half of the program will feature the “Mary Lou Quintet” with Lance Hoopes, Carmen Catania, Lanny Webb and Les Roberts. The performance will be upbeat and lively. Mary Lou promises some surprises along the way.

THE MOUSETRAP by Agatha Christie; Performed by the Santa Cruz Shoestring Players. 

This theater classic is a murder mystery with a twist ending!  The Mousetrap is one of the most well known plays of all time.  At 62 years, it holds the current record for the longest running show of any type in the modern era.

Tuesday, May 7, 7:00 P.M.:  Jack Lasseter:  The Archeology of Arizona.  Have you ever wondered why there seems to be so many more archeological sites here in the Southwest than in other parts of the country? It’s the dry climate. Learn about the  early Paleo-Indians as well as the later six major pre-historic peoples who lived in Arizona, where and how they lived, and modern day sites to visit.

Thursday, May 16,  5 P.M.: Prom Night at the Community Performing Arts Center.   Remember the old days of school dances and the excitement of Prom? Now is your chance to relive those good times. The theme of the evening will be “It Had To Be You”. The event will feature DJ entertainment and live music from local dance band, Big Band Sounds. Food, beverages, photo booth and much more
will be provided. Come dance the night away!
